NYI Talk: Meeting Students Where They Are

There’s no denying that the world of youth ministry is changing. Youth pastors and leaders are being forced to reassess the ways they go about ministry to young people. Greg Wells, a former Field Youth Coordinator for the Southeast Field, shares his thoughts on creative ways youth ministries can meet students where they are.

Spend some time reflecting on the questions below as an individual, or as a team, in light of your ministry context. Want to share your thoughts with the larger NYI community? Use #NYITalk on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to start the conversation.

  1. How well does your youth ministry do at getting outside the four walls of the church building?
  2. How aware are you or your team of the things your students are interested in or connected to?
  3. What existing connection points (FCA, YMCA, etc.) can your youth ministry leverage to better meet students where they are?
