Q2018 Rounds Up a Year’s Worth of Efforts

Q2018 brought nearly 650 participants from across the USA/Canada Region to MidAmerica Nazarene University, June 25-30, for a week of competition, worship, and relational connection. Held bi-annually, “Q” represents the highest level of Youth Bible Quizzing competition and showcases the extraordinary dedication and skill of quizzers who spend nearly a year in preparation and study. In addition to other competition finalists, this year’s tournament saw the Eastern Field emerge as champions of the Field Divisions.

The 2017-2018 Youth Quizzing Bible season focused on 1 and 2 Corinthians, providing quizzers the opportunity to gain modern-day inspiration from Paul’s writing to the ancient church in Corinth. This deeper level of engagement with Scripture was displayed throughout the tournament and in scholarship essays students submitted prior to the event.

Beyond the competition during the week, students participated in a variety of recreation events, connected with representatives from each Nazarene school on the USA/Canada Region, and took part in inspiring plenary sessions.

“Q2018 rounded up a year’s worth of efforts put into studying Scripture,” said Allison Campbell, USA/Canada NYI’s Youth Quizzing Liaison. “This dedication and discipline were evident during the 1,300 rounds of quizzing that took place at ‘Q.’ What is even more impressive is the encouragement they gave each other during and after rounds. It was evident that the mission of Youth Quizzing was landing well with students.”

The next “Q” event, Q2020, will be held on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University, June 15-20, 2020.
